exhaust setups

Post by osrolla » Mon May 19, 2014 10:27 pm

Going to get my exhaust setup reason and was wondering if there is a certain setup that sounds good with these 3tcs. Mines got a cam and headers
82 te72, 1.8 3tc, cam, headers, weber 32/36. ALOT more to come!

Not a fan of flowmasters on 3TC's. Hate that farting noise when I decelerate down hills. I prefer dynomax super turbo. Can roll by cops without too much attention and I like to hear the sound of my duals when I stretch the motor. I also go 2 1/4, 2 1/2 is too loud for my taste.

I have a 1983 E7 (now with 4AGE)

I did some research a few years ago and I found the AE86 SR5 exhaust to be the same (aftermarket) as the 1983 AE71 (my car) both cars are 4AC originally.

So, because I found out that the exhaust from an AE86 fits under the car...

I went with an AE86 Brave Exhaust from Japan - here is a short ride in my car with that exhaust - http://youtu.be/oC73j3m_Hf4

The Brave is 2.25" diameter its over axle, and comes with resonator and full muffler

another short video showing how the exhaust fits, and it shows idle and a few revs while in neutral - http://s79.photobucket.com/user/oldeske ... b.mp4.html

I had the 2 1/4" with flowmaster and the sound was amazing! The only thing is after a while it gets too loud and you get tired of it. You can really hear it outside and inside. If its not going to be a daily it would be fine. I think the biggest thing is the piping. I put a cheap muffler on mine and its quiet inside but people tell me they can hear me coming from half a block away! I will take it.

I had a flowmaster on for awhile but at high rpms I didn't like the sound. I had a dynomax muffler which is quieter and I imagine that with duals it would be the muffler to have but I have a Holley carb which doesn't compare to duals so now I have a magnaflow muffler. It is comparable to the flowmaster loudness but I like the sound better.
