distributor cap differences

Post by totorote27 »

was curious if there is any difference between distributor caps for the 2tc/3tc. the reason i ask is because the other day i installed a distributor in my car and the cap was wobbling a little while the motor was running. i switched the cap with another distributor i had and it was not wobbling. any thoughts on this issue

Both caps I used were the clip on type. How about differences in rotors?

That 2tc dist.cap has a knotch on one of the sides you can only set it in one way if it keeps wobbling check that the shaft on the dizzy isn't bent

I don't believe the dizzy shaft is bent. When I switched caps there was no wobble. I will double check it though

All 2tc dizzys are clip on. Electronic is slightly bigger then point type. Point cap on electronic will have play (what you have). Electronic cap wont fit on point type. Match 2 caps base to base and you can see difference. Timing will vary every time you "twist" the cap. Rotor for both are the same. Just outside of cap is different.
