OEM head bolts

Post by baldo »

So how do you guys feel about stock bolts? I might put a head and cam on my engine but dont know if I should spend the extra money for ARP. I need a head gasket, thats why I want to change all that. But dont know if the bolts are stretched or if its ok to re use them. I know some engines you cant re use them. Keep in mind I might have a new block by the summer with everything new and with ARP. Safe or not? Any horror stories?

Why don't you take that bolt to Fasten-all and get new ones, they have that thread and pitch within the proper length and you can get grade 8 bolts, simple fix. Look up their website online and check out their in store stock before you leave the comfort of your sofa.... What you really have to worry about is how straight your cylinder head actually is. If its out of specifications then no matter which bolts or stds are used, your gonna leak water or cylinder compression.
