Some more progress!

Roll Cage rear stays.

There are welded tubes between the parcel shelf and the boot floor running next to the fuel tank for extra support as I didn't particularly trust the shelf itself if the worst happens and I need to rely on that cage...

To help hide the cage I purchased one of these.

Image

I don't think I've introduced my friend Frankenpump yet either... He is a 3TC oil pump sporting 18RG gears. I had a custom spacer machined up and had the 18RG inner gear fitted to the 3TC shaft. That all started when I couldn't find a 3TGTE oil pump for sale so I went one better...

Image

Here are a couple of comparison shots. The smaller gears are the original 3TC items and the small spacer is the 18RG spacer for the 18R pump those gears started life in.

No one would sell me a 3TGTE oil pump drive thingy.
For that matter no one was around to tell me it was a bad idea... So...

Image

Nope I've no idea yet I just cut it to see what is there... Now its off around my shed scouring for something - anything - to give me some inspiration...

And with the addition of a hall effect sensor which I do not yet own I hope that will do the job of a cam sync sensor as well as the oil pump drive. I am going coil per plug so I can ditch that pathetic MSD digital crap with its 2D mapping. :D Those IGN-1A smart coils sound like the ticket too!

Jason

Aaaaaaaaaaand finally here is todays effort Saturday 25th January 2014!

85 Amp Bosch Alternator upgrade is go!

Image

Water meth tank is mounted in hopefully its new permanent location - instead of being hose clamped to the factory fan shroud...

Image

Radiator scored a left over thermo fan from the HQ and I made a bit of blockout materials to try and help the cooling effect.

Image

Spent plenty of time staring at the engine bay attempting to visualise solutions for remaining teasers...

Cheers,
Jason

Man its been awhile since I read your build thread. Last time I checked you hadn't blown an engine and now you have a jeffco tranny and from the looks of things a compound turbo setup. Can't wait for more.

I've been making more Frankenstuffs and more progress in general.
Fuel system is dummied up and I made the flanges for the cold side of the turbo plumbing - mongrel Garrett using flanges instead of hoses...

No more pictures yet as I have been doing madcap ideas all of my own under the hood. Everything else up until now have been 'borrowed' ideas from everywhere else as required for my purpose! ;)

Josh you can hit me up anytime and I'll try and remember rear end details!

Cheers,
Jason
