3tc locked distributors

I've got my motor put together and now I'm questions wether I should have a locked distributor or not. I was having timing issues but I'm getting that solved. My question is should I be running a locked dizzy with a big cam or not? And what size jets should I run on a 32 36? Cam is 280 duration 464 lift.
