tranny expert question for T50

Post by toyorotor »

I have a T50 from an 81-82, I swapped the Tail shaft off an early T50 to move the shifter forward,
I got the transmission in the trunk of the car so I don't know if it was working correctly , Nothing seemed wrong when I opened it up... no metal shavings or grinded teeth.....

I installed it and now its grinding real bad to go into Reverse. But if I throw 3/4 then Reverse it goes
in fine. Anyone know what is going on?

Well the shift rods where changed over also. Everything was a direct swap. Converting it to a Early style
T50.
Someone else told me to check the clutch to make sure its engaging correct. Everything is pretty much new...Clutch/Plate/Bearing/Slave Cylinder..... I got under the car while someone step on the pedal and the slave came all the way out... I took the boot off the fork and saw the plates springs get flat.....

Which fork are you using? Fork and slave has to match the bell.
