Seriously, that's what intimidates about MS.

Jason...what kind of fuel regulator are you running? I could only find a 1:1 that would allow 20PSI of boost. Can you shed some light on your fuel set up...NME308 wrote:38PSI & counting on a Holley 650DP.Dj Flights wrote:just woundering about how much boost could it hold after that?

I use the Mallory 4307M I think looking at their catalogue.
Don't be confused by the rating of 4-20psi or such since that is just the baseline pressure setting. As long as a 1:1 regulator is able to be set at the baseline pressure you wish your carb to run at i.e. I use say 6psi for a Holley carb then the 1:1 bit adds an extra psi of fuel pressure for each psi of boost you run.
Cheers,
Jason

Now I get it the 4-20psi is for the base setting and it runs 1:1 anything above that.
Thanks Jason that helps me a lot

Re: efi vs blow thru carb
my blow thru turbo weber sidedraft setup is tuned for 40psi, seems to work just fine, but this is for my drag car running Q16, not a street car, but like mentioned before, if done right, the carb setup will work good for street and strip, but in my oppinion not as good as an efi setup, but the efi setup will be more money, there is simply no getting around that, the old saying prevails, you get what u pay for... lolDj Flights wrote:Are brass floats better or worse than nitrophyl float?
And how much boost could it hold?
i'll be selling my weber setup here very soon to get the $$ togethr for a EFI setup, i hope to pick up some extra power after i have it switched to efi and tuned.
good luck man, there are allot of expierienced guys on here, just ask away

Re: efi vs blow thru carb
i've had both turbo carb and EFI as have many othere guys on here to, its pretty safe to say carbs are a little more work like mike mentioned, they won't adapt to climate changes like EFI will, EFI is simply better in all aspects, the carb setup has less parts as far as stuff to buy, but thats really the only advantage, YES its a little less to do a turbo carb setup but if u are serious about making good reliable power its hard to beat EFI.sqznby wrote:Does anyone have or know someone with an efi 3tc?

also, how many pro import cars do you se running blow thru turbo carbs???? NONE... everyone running turbo EFI setups. i turbo carbs had any advantages over EFI you would still see them being used. the only turbo weber setup ive seen i a long time doing something serious is Milton guy on youtube from PR running into th 8's if i recall correctly with a single sidedraft with turbo in a 1.8 body, thats friggin impressive, but its safe to say that guy is if a friggin expert when it comes to carbs.
