okay so im trying to figure all this cam timing out. iv seen adjustable cam gears that are adjustable up to 20*.
why would i need to ever adjust timing?
does timing change with a bigger cam?
would i need one of these when upgrading to a bigger cam?
is there anything i need along with buying the specific cam for my motor besides new lifters?
iv heard of advancing and retarding timing, whys this done?
im trying to figure this all out cause i doubt all that needs to be done is stick a cam in and run it.. any tips, thoughts, links, suggestions ect is greatly appreciated. thanks!

camshaft should come with timing card. on the timing card is all the cams info, along with the details on where to set the camshaft.osrolla wrote:So im guessing i do need an adjustable cam sprocket? And how would i know at what degree to set it at?
BEFORE you set the camshaft you need to KNOW TDC.. not guess or assume. I strongly recommend using a piston stop to verify TDC
