IG is switched 12V

L is the light

If I no longer have an instrument cluster, can I wire the (L) pin to an aftermarket volt meter?

:shock: :shock: Volt meter meassure the overall voltage

The alternator need this low amp L 12v to trigger the voltage regulator so it start charging

I thought L meant light which meant a light on the dash meaning the charge system light in the gauge cluster. :?

Check the diagram you will notice the L wire how it run true the circuit
