I have a 12 inch 1200 cfm fan on mine and don't have any issues. Depending on how much of your radiator core's surface area the fan is covering that could be the issue. I know 3tc cars have a little bit more area than the 2tc cars. I would suggest building a shroud for the fan so it has most if not all of the surface area covered or if you can find a factory fan and shroud off a car that'll fit your radiator and you could run one of those.
