Remember, if you are going to tune them you will need time, money and plenty of practice. :D Also, if you plan on getting a cam forget about tuning them now. Because then you are probably going to need more jets... time, money and practice. Try to have everything ready before putting them on, Make sure you have the headers with good piping to the muffler, msd, coil, wires, spark plugs.
Folks forget that the 2T series was the standard engine for 90% of the cars sold over seas and 18RG were not the normal engine. In the later Lift-backs 18R series were more common (Oversea) and a lot seen in 1976 1977 models. This is my personal opinion from Junkyard searches in Okinawa, Japan from 1977 - 1989 (weekly to daily the last two years)

There were a lot of performance options for the T-Series and the upgrades for the 2TG and 18RG meant deeper pockets back then. I few guys that were transfered to the P.I. that actual took their cars, and that were truly knowledgeable, would put different engines in their car before shipping it, but most shipped the T-series in there cars.

HKS and Solex Intake manifolds were available at the Auto-box with a large assortment of Weber and Solex-Silver and Solex-Gold Carbs series in size 40mm, 44mm, and 50 mm behind glass showcase like you were buying jewelry sitting next to the latest Hot ignition systems...

The 2T-BR twin carbs were a factory bolt-on upgrade and their were a few of those available from the junkyards for about 5,000 Yen or Less. (270 yen = $1.00)(Then)

Agreed!
The T series pushrod engine was considered high tech in the early 70's and put into toyota's premier sports car the celica. I have seen Sidedrafts, hks camshafts, rare tosco catalog parts, and even jewels like 152/151E engines and even twin cam trd 4K engines floating around in local philippine market but for regular joes like me, a 2t with a sidedraft is a sweet setup.

I just wish the 2 and 3tc were the first engines they came out with, then from 1970 to 1979 come out with the 2tg and 1980 to 1983 the 3tg. Then the parts easy to find on the market would be for the good engines! Then we would of been talking about the 2tc and 3tc engines like they were a waste of time. I thought celicas only had the 22r, 18rg or 2tg in them.
Man you guys talk about 2tg, 3tg, 151e and 18rg engines in junk yards like nothing. Im kind of glad I live in the US or else I would have an engine collection or a junk yard of my own at my house. People in the Philippines have some cool cars and engines we dont have here. But anyways docta22, how can you send me a junk yard 151e engine from over there........ ;)

I have no idea how to send something that big to the states baldo. I just travel between and can only fit an X amount in my check-in baggages. I did see a 151e motor when I went to the local Toyotafest Philippines show last august. The company that owned it is called C Auto Performance and the guy that owned the shop was pretty friendly.

Heres a video I found on youtube of the thing running.
