Lifter positions?

Post by VinceG2 » Sun Apr 06, 2014 2:30 am

When putting the mecanical lifters back into the engine, is there a certain position that the holes should be lined up? Like, would the bottom hole be aimed towards the center of the engine, or to the rear or to the front or what? The holes are on opposite sides to each other. I did not notice the original positions. I have the green engine manual that Toyota themselves put out, and while it is really detailed, I don't see any mention of the lifters other then to inspect them for wear.

Nope, as they rotate around when working!

The position of the holes makes no difference. The lifters are constantly rotating. If they are not,the cam and lifter surface will soon wipe out.
