3TC N/A BUILD

Post by ifrazali1 »

Hi guys I'm 16 years old and have a 1981 toyota corolla 4 door with a 3TC 1.8L engine and a 3 speed automatic.
The car is currently being restored by me and my dad.

I want to build the engine and make it an all engine build.
I was wondering what I have to do to keep up with honda civic, integras.
I dont want to swap the engine.

All the information is appreciated.

Thanks.

Keep up how? Stop light drags, mountain roads, track?
Work out power to weight of the competition and can you better it? By losing weight and/or gaining power. How much power do you need?

I need enough power to keep up with hondas and integras. I want to street race with the 3TC engine

How about if he just wanted to keep up with a stock Honda or Integra LS B18B?

Yeap you'll be building an expensive n/a engine to compete with modern high tech hondas. Is the F20c still the highest power per capacity mass production engine in the world?
to get the most out of a 3t you're talking about boring to 89mm with high compression pistons, race cam, porting, lighten everything you can especially flywheel, performance induction system and exhaust, the usual stuff.
But like I said, set yourself a goal. How much power do you need to be competitive? Once you know that you can research which mods can be achieved within the budget you have.
