Best head for a 3t-c?
I want to buy a head, build it up and then swap it on my 3t block.
I know theres a 2T with higher compression
I can upgrade the original 3t and shave it for compression, Also does the DOHC swap on?
Are there any other options?
Please tell me the best head to make HP.
Keeping it Carbed.
Need any more info just ask

If you're porting, any head will work. All have the same combustion chamber so unless you're buying high comp Pistons you can angle cut it. Just remember that the chamber gets smaller so you gotta make sure the domes fit plus valve to piston clearance. If you're not porting look for the early pre smog head. Larger ports but people don't let them go easily.

yeah I cant find them anywhere.. might as well rebuild a 3t-c head.
IM surious why nobody for the DOHC head or anything else

Since The 2T head has higher compression,so unless your building bottom end, Id take the 3T and find somewhere that will bore it and throw in bigger valves.bryanhernandez3727 wrote:I have a 3tc head and a early 1973 2tc head pre smog which one should i use for turbo and should i port it ?
from what I hear
2T on 3t block = higher compression, bigger valves
3t on 3t block= stock (lower) compression, Smaller valves
But really Id say if you want turbo, buy the 3T-GTE
DOHC>Pushrod
Re: Best head for a 3t-c?
Is there somewhere that has the info on max valve size, and how much I can shave the head for clearance for both of the heads?
I cant find any info about the specific sizes or max sizes.
Random question also Whats the max bore keeping it reliable?
The racing 4T-GTE with the same block is bored to a 2.1.
Unless I can get 2.1-2.2 on pump gas would it even be worth it?

45 and 38.5 mm on the valves and with these valves you can't cut much. Either go turbo or get higher compression Pistons. Both 2t and 3t heads have the same combustion chamber size so nothing to gain there between heads. 63cc stock.
Re: Best head for a 3t-c?
I'm hoping to do a head up build..
So from what your saying a 2t is just as good as 3t if I build it right?
Thanks for the valve size clearace.
What about shaving it down for more compression? any specific number for that?

If anyone is still looking, I have an early 2TC (pre-smog/EGR) head for sale. Check in the For Sale area.
