Fuel gauge not working correctly
My fuel gauge doesn't read properly. When I put a full tank of gas the needle only goes to half on the gauge. So when the gauge says I have a 1/4 tank left it's really half. But it seems to be reading inconsistently all the time and it will stay on E or just slightly above even with a full tank or between that and 3/4 left. Should I just replace me sender in the tank or should I check other things before I do that?

Forgot to mention I've removed the sending unit, cleaned the contacts and still doesn't read right. When I put the sender up to read a full tank the gauge still says half.
