Squeal sound from clutch ?

Post by lvsanchete72 »

I have had this problem that I can hear a squealing sound when I press the pedal slightly, not even with the clutch pressed in. It is as if something is scraping. Any ideas what it could be ? or maybe any more tests I can try to diagnose?

I'd put my money on it being a bad throwout bearing (aka release bearing) as mentioned above. Mine was doing the exact thing recently.

I was told that the squealing would be more obvious if it was a throw out bearing but I might have to drop the transmission anyways.
Someone mentioned to me that without having the flywheel resurfaced and a new clutch the sound would be the cause. Any truth to that ?

I would be doubtful of it being clutch/flywheel friction noise, personally. Though it begs the question, why would you install a new clutch without re-surfacing the flywheel?
