TE72 Wiring!! Help!!

Postby kida on Sun Feb 28, 2010 5:45 pm

I swapped cars and put my motor in another car I had stored. I can't get it to start. I think the smaller of the two wires that goes to the starter hooks up to some type of relay before getting power from the battery. Is this correct? I have a Haynes wiring diagram but itdoesn't show a relay. When I touch the small wire to the positive the starter turns over but then a white wire starts to melt. i'm not the best at electrical. any sugg/ help would be awesome.

JUST TWO WIRES TO THE STARTER , THICK ONE , TO THE BATTERY AND THE SMALL ONE SUPPLIES THE SIGNAL TO THE STARTER SOLENOID TO MAKE THE STARTER WORK. THE SMALL WIRE IS NOT SUPPOSE TO STAY CONNECTED TO POSITIVE , JUST INTERMITENT TO WORK THE STARTER .CHECK THE WHITE WIRE YOU MENTION IT MAY BE CONECTED TO THE WRONG CONNECTION.
